Your Questions, Answered
Why hire a professional designer, can’t I just get designs from contractors?
Yes, there are a handful of good designers in our area who happen to be salesman for a contractor. What you don’t know is that most of our industry is filled with professional salesman. Bouncing from industry to industry, they watch a few training videos, grab the company tablet filled with photos, download a bunch of plug and play templates and then walk in your door. You deserve better! Contact us to find out how to have a better design experience and end up with a higher quality end product at the best price!
We have an H.O.A and a design approval process, can you help us?
Absolutely! Our plans include scaled drawings, detailed site notes, drainage plans, topography when required, material lists, plant and tree layouts with sizes/species and locations as well as a low voltage lighting layout. Each design package will be tailored to your particular communities’ requirements.
How much should I spend on improving the outside of my home?
This is a great question and one I hear the most often. Generally speaking, between 10-20% of the overall property value is considered safe. This basic budgeting rule should include improvements for the front yard and rear yard. In most cases this will allow you to improve or re landscape the front yard, build a pool with surrounding landscape as well as concrete and a patio cover. FYI: Curb appeal is the number one thing asked for by realtors and is always a safe place to make improvements!

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for stopping by and for not only showing interest in what we do here at Royal Mark Designs but who I am.
I grew up as an 80’s ~ 90’s kid here in Roseville, California where I still live. I was the kid knocking on your door to mow the lawns or wash your cars for golf money, I was the kid drawing for hours or begging for the next Lego set to build. Always creating, imagining, dreaming and of course, playing golf!
In my early twenties after building custom homes and doing remodels for several years I found my first job with a pool and landscape company. I started out digging ditches, learning every phase of pool and landscape construction along the way. Within six months I was running jobsites from start to finish. When I say I know how to build everything I design for you, I mean it!
After several years managing multiple in-house construction teams for swimming pools and landscaping, I realized what I really wanted to do was design these amazing backyards and spaces! I bought every design book and outdoor magazine I could find and started learning! Yes, I said books and magazines… Internet was dial up then and my camera was a high end 3mp Cannon!!
Twenty-five years later and over 1000 designs here in the Sacramento area and I still love what I do! Meeting new people is fun, being creative and turning peoples dreams into reality is fun, but for me, the fact that you trusted me with your hard-earned money, trusted my vision and valued my time and creativity enough to let me create something special for you is by far the most rewarding.
My goal will always be to design something I am proud of and that I would own myself. Also, please don’t put the dog away when I come over, I want to meet them too! Otherwise, I’ll just be standing there thinking….. Can I pet that daaawg? Can I pet that daaaawggg?! IYKYK
